LAKE COUNTY TRIAL COURT - PROBATE JUDGE
The Lake County Trial Court is unique in Michigan. The Probate Judge serves the people of Lake County not only as the Probate Judge but also as the Circuit and District Court Judge through assignment by the State Court Administrator's Office. The Judge of the Lake County Trial Court will handle all matters that come before the court, including but not limited to:
All felony criminal matters, civil litigation involving more than $25,000.00 in damages, family law, child abuse and neglect, and juvenile matters.
Circuit Court:
District Court:
Criminal misdemeanor offenses, civil litigation under $25,000 in damages, civil infractions, landlord-tenant and land contract forfeitures, and small claims hearings. The District Court also conducts arraignments, sets bail, issues search warrants, and presides over preliminary exams for felony matters.
Probate Court
The probate court handles cases regarding adoptions, the transfer of assets upon death (estates, wills & trusts), cases regarding the protection of incapacitated or mentally ill individuals and their assets (guardianships & conservatorships), and hearings for hospitalization for individuals suffering from mental illness.
JUDGE DAVID M. GLANCY
On April 26, 2023, David was appointed to serve Lake County as the Probate Judge, filling the vacancy of retiring Judge Wickens. He seeks your support on August 6th for the primary election and the November 5th general election to continue serving as your Judge for Lake County.
With over 20 years of extensive courtroom experience in both public and private practice, David has represented clients in serious criminal matters, complex civil litigation, family law matters, and probate court cases. He has also served Lake County for the past three years as the Probate Judge or Court Magistrate and Friend of the Court Referee.
Judge David Glancy is prepared to continue serving the people of Lake County with the necessary knowledge, experience, and leadership he has demonstrated throughout his time on the bench and throughout his legal career. Judge Glancy would be honored to continue serving the residents of Lake County as Probate Judge and asks for your support in the upcoming elections.
